'One of the main activities planned for the picnic was a balloon-constructing event. So I made the lettering out of ''balloons'' by drawing on self-adhesive labels mounted onto a stock aerial photo of L.A.. In other words, the text reads backwards as if one is viewing the picnic event from above the balloons. The brown ink used to paint the shadows on the label balloons suggests the warm summer atmosphere.'
